Time flies. I have passed four years campus life.

September. 2008

Four years ago, I went to college with complicated feelings. Having experienced the failure of college entrance examination, I lost my confidence and was disappointed with myself. Hunan First Normal Universtiy is not my dreamed school. But I have no choice. What I can do is to persuade myself to believe that everything will change, I will have a wonderful campus life in this college. Having these feelings in my mind, I began my campus life.

At the very beginning, everything in college was new to me. It is the first time that I lived with my classmates in dormitory. It is the first time that I communicated with people around me in Mandarin. It is the first time that I was so far away from my parents. Although sometimes I felt a little lonely, most of time I was happier than ever. There was no pressure of study and teachers' supervision. I just felt that I'm a prisoner who finally get freedom. The negative feelings that along with me disappeared quickly. I was so interested in my new life that I forgot all my failures and disappoinment. Being engaged in participating in all kinds of communities and getting a good knowledge of my courses, I almost made full use of every minute. The first year of college was full of happy and satisfaction.


However, this kind of passion didn't continue very long. Soon I was tied of community's activities and all my courses. What the most frequent thing I did was to sleep and watch soap opera. I almost spent every day in the same way. Sleeping, Surfing the internet and eating occupy  most of my time. My roommates and other classmates seemed like to do the same thing with me. What we don't lack most is time. And we use all all kinds of way to kill time except reading professional books. The fighting spirit that we owned in the first year had gone away. Most of us were just lazybones.

Day after day, my campus life went on without any surprise and there was nothing out of ordinary. Occasionally, I would have a retrospection and decided to change the way I live. But this kind of feeling won't exist a long time. Generally speaking, I can't adhere to the decision I made for three days. I was doomed to be a loser.


June. 2012

Not having prepared good enough, I graduated in a hurry. When I came back to my school, I saw the huge banner hung at the school gate. Every corner of school was filled with a feeling of seperation. All of a sudden, my eyes wet. I suddenly realized that I'm going to leave school forever. I would never have such a good opportunity to make friends, promote myself and absorb knowledge. I would seperate from my roommates with whom I lived 4 years and shared sorrow and happy. In the party at night, I was surrounded by a strange feeling. I had no idea to explain it. Different from any party before, this party was just for us. But I didn't enjoy it. The songs and dances reminded me of so many things. Four years campus memory visulised before my eyes. Yes, although I didn't do anything great in my campus life and Hunan First Normal University was not my ideal school, I do have deep emotion to my campus life. Not until that time did I know that I love my alma mater and roommates.

     As a loyal player of guild wars, I have waited so long for the guild wars 2. I was so excited that I can join the beta testing and play the game at the earliest time. After participating in the third beta testing,I realized that guild wars 2 is far more interesting than guild wars and other MMOs. Compared with guild wars, a new race named sylvari was added in guild wars 2. Personally speaking, I like this race very much. They are new to the world and the oldest sylvari is just 25 years old. Sylvari look like human but they are made of wood. This makes their appearance very interesting. And they have their own traits and skills. But when you choose your profession and  wear the cloth, they just look like as normal. 

    I choose a sylvari character in my game spending a lot more time roaming than helping out my teammates. Because I was appealed by the game picture and curious about evrything in the Pale Tree. Now I'm very looking foward to the release of guild wars 2. I will try more races and professions and what the most important point is I'll begin my unique personal story in guild wars 2.

   As a MMO player, you may have already  been tied of  the endless tasks. All you do in a game is to walk to a character from whom you will get a massive wall of text that describes a horrible or totally mundane thing going on in the world that you need to help with. Most of game players just ingnore this and leave directly to finish the job, then return and talk to this character again to receive another wall of text and a reward. As it to me, this storytelling mode is so boring that I even don't want to play the game again. 


    But now guild wars 2 may let us have an different feeling. Different from traditional event system, guild wars 2 adopt the dynamic events which gamers needn't to read a huge quest description to find out what's going on in the world. Instead, gamers can experience it by seeing and hearing things in the world. For example: you know that a dragon is attacking a village from seeing the buildings exploding in giant balls of fire, hearing characters in the game world screaming and so on. Gamers will get a direct experience instead of reading from blocks of quest text. 


   What's more, in guild wars 2, gamers won't worried about the loots after killing a boss. In traditional MMOs, when many players sent by the quest system to kill a boss, one of them will get the loots, but the rest of them have to stand around and wait their turn for the boss to re-spawn. However, guild wars 2 solve this problem by creating a game world where hundreds of players are able to interact together and feel a sense of community, not a sense of threat, from other players playing with them. All players that fully participate in an event will get their reward, everyone who helps kill a monster or blow up an enemy catapult will get credit. The more players join in this event, the more monster show up to fight them. This mode of event do a good job to bring the community together and to give everyone a shared sense of responsibility in the game world. Guild wars 2 create a truly dynamic,living ,breathing persistent world where player's action  really make a difference.I just cannot wait to enter guild wars 2 world. What about you?
